We photographed a very special wedding the day after Thanksgiving in Bay City, Michigan. Kate is my niece and God Daughter and an amazing young woman who happened to meet the most wonderful guy, Zach – of course we simply had to travel across the country to photograph this wedding! It was a great trip. I got to spend time with my parents in the house I grew up in and for a nice change of pace I didn’t cook Thanksgiving dinner this year – my sister hosted! She said I didn’t even have to bring anything (I brought a few things anyway) and there were cousins for my kids to play with. Lots and lots of cousins and Aunts and Uncles and Grandparents and snow. Just delightful! And after all that a beautiful, happy wedding at the church Kate and her family have attended since she was a baby – it’s where her parents got married, in fact! We had a very small (and cold and rainy) window of opportunity between the ceremony and reception to stop in downtown Bay City for some fun urban images and still make it to the reception on time. Kate and I had talked about it and we both really wanted to do it …. oh, there were some that said it couldn’t be done but they don’t know Aunt Beth and Uncle Paul, where there’s a will there’s a way! Thanks to the wedding party for being such troopers and thinking warm thoughts, all y’all don’t look cold or wet at all in the photos! We warmed up with delights from the cocoa and coffee bar at the reception while my kids tried out the “mocktails” Uncle Rich concocted for them. The bride and groom entertained us with the shoe game for a fun end to the evening. Kate and Zach, you two were made for each other – love you guys!
